What is an ABS edge?

The ABS edge is also referred to as edge protection or cap. It serves to disguise the cut edges of the wood and plastic plates from furniture. ABS is a plastic and is called the acrylic-butadiene styrene. It is characterized by a high surface hardness. Thanks to the elasticity of the plastic, the ABS edge gives the furniture a good impact resistance.

The problem explains: do you need an ABS edge?

Yes! In our view, an ABS edge for furniture that is often in use is an absolute must. Melamine artists are not recommended. Melamine is one of the most robust materials used in the surface area - and is therefore our favorite for wood coating - but the material is not elastic enough as edge protection. Recognize ABS edge

Often the thickness of the topping edges is also given there. We recommend that it is at least 2 mm for tables and at least 1 mm for shelf floors.

What characterizes a melamine edge?

In contrast to the ABS edge, the melamine surgeons have no streaked stripes. We basically advise against the use of furniture with this type of edge, for the qualitative reasons already mentioned.
